VPS hosting is when you have your own dedicated hosting environment. You do not share you space or resources with anyone else and have full control over your all aspects of your server space. You have massive growth potential with blistering speed!
What is a VPS?
A VPS stands for Virtual Private Server and all it really is, is a complete Linux/Windows Operating System with its own RAM, CPU and disk space. Basically, a complete server, but not a physical thing. Think of a very big physical server that is divided into smaller sections. (Each represented as a VPS)
Do I get my own IP Address?
Yes. Each VPS is issued a dedicated public IP Address. More addresses may be requested from the VPS team.
What is a hypervisor?
A hypervisor in this context represents the container or owner of the VPS instances. Basically, the software / hardware combination that manages the virtual private servers.
What's KVM
KVM is the name given for the Server Virtualization technology. It is the encapsulation of a virtualization product and offers a high level of security.
What Linux distribution do you offer?
We currently provide CentoOS 7.
Do you manage the VPS?
Yes, although we are only responsible for management of server software, security and updates related to the host panel
You are provided with end-user access and responsible for managing your own hosting space.
Support on demand applies to this service and is charged at R150.00 (incl VAT) per support call.
Troubleshooting 3rd Party Web-and Email applications may incur additional costs.
Root access is not provided to the end-user.
What software is pre-loaded?
The VPS is pre-loaded with CentOS.
What about Hosting Panel Software in my VPS?
Direct Admin host panel is installed, allowing you immediate access to manage your mail accounts, domain DNS and websites.
What do YOU backup?
We backup the full server / VM weekly.
Restore of the VM, requires you to log a ticket.
Can I upgrade and downgrade my VM?
You may upgrade your VM anytime and reclaim the additional resources. Downgrading VPS storage is unfortunately not possible.
What is a snapshot?
Our VPS Hosting panel has the feature to take a snapshot of your server at a point in time. This allows you to make changes to the system and if you are not happy with the result, you may rollback to that point in time. Or commit the changes. All while the server is running.
